If you’re looking for public sector tenders in Wales, the official route is Sell2Wales, and we don’t try to replace it. What we add is a live list of Welsh notices that also appear on Find a Tender and Contracts Finder. In the week to 10 Oct 2026 there were 41 of them naming a Welsh delivery location (as of 10 Oct 2026). Sell2Wales-only quotes won’t appear in our list, so keep a Sell2Wales alert as well.
Where Welsh public buyers publish tenders
Sell2Wales. It is the national portal, and Sell2Wales says it is free: you register, choose “supplier”, then complete a public profile and an alerts profile. Registration is also needed to open the documents attached to a notice. You can search by region and category, and tick “Include Archived Contracts?” to see old notices (see its help pages).
The Central Digital Platform step. Sell2Wales says suppliers must register on the Central Digital Platform first, then enter their unique identifier in the Sell2Wales supplier control panel (news item). The gov.uk short guide for suppliers says registration is free and only needed when you want to bid.
Find a Tender. Since 24 February 2025 no new procurements can start under the old rules (the Public Contracts Regulations 2015), and new below-threshold opportunities must be advertised on Find a Tender (PPN 019, para 8). That is where our live list comes from.
Buyers’ own e-tendering systems. Some Welsh bodies run the tender itself on a separate system. The notice tells you which, so follow the link from the notice rather than searching for it.
Contracts Finder. Contracts Finder still carries notices for procurements that started under the old rules (PPN 019, para 7). For how Sell2Wales sits alongside the other portals, see every UK tender portal, listed.
Who buys in Wales
Buyers include councils, NHS Wales bodies, the Welsh Government and housing associations. City & County of Swansea was the most active buyer in our UK data that week, with 8 live notices (as of 10 Oct 2026). Pembrokeshire County Council publishes a list of the main external frameworks it uses. That is one council’s list, not every Welsh council’s.
About a third of UK notices are tagged only “UK” or have no region (as of 10 Oct 2026), so a notice that suits a Welsh firm may not carry a Welsh delivery location. The full UK list at /tenders/ shows those too.
Local support for small suppliers
Business Wales offers free online support at businesswales.gov.wales and has a page on how to tender for a contract. Its helpline is 0300 060 3000, Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm (gov.uk).
Winning public contracts in Wales
Do both registrations once. Set up the Central Digital Platform record and add its identifier to Sell2Wales before a deadline is near, so a live notice doesn’t catch you without either.
Ask about lower-value quotes. Pembrokeshire says it may also use Sell2Wales for quotation exercises (see the Pembrokeshire page above). Each buyer sets its own thresholds, so check the buyer’s tendering page. The gov.uk below-threshold guidance says there is no exemption for devolved Welsh authorities from publishing below-threshold notices, but it also flags differences for them, so read the guidance with that in mind and ask the buyer where you’re unsure.
Learn from archived notices. Sell2Wales lets you include archived contracts in a search. Before you bid, look at what a buyer bought last time, at what size, and how it was advertised. That tells you whether the work suits a firm of your size and when it might come round again.
Know the frameworks your council uses. If a buyer buys through a framework, the open tender may never appear. In the week to 10 Oct 2026, 72 of the 470 live UK notices mentioned frameworks or dynamic purchasing systems (DPS; the Procurement Act 2023 replaces these with dynamic markets) (as of 10 Oct 2026). Look at the council’s framework list and see whether you can apply to join the relevant one.
Prepare for social value questions. The Welsh Government publishes a short guide for suppliers on socially responsible procurement. Read it before you write a social value answer. Local jobs and local suppliers are easy to quantify, so use real numbers rather than adjectives.
Set alerts by category and region. Sell2Wales lets you search by region and category and keep an alerts profile by category, so set one for each service you actually deliver. Then read the notice for the closing date and for whether bidding runs on Sell2Wales or a buyer’s own system.
Check the pack for insurance. Only 29 of the 470 UK live notices in the week to 10 Oct 2026 (about 6%) stated insurance requirements in the notice itself (as of 10 Oct 2026). Look at public liability and employers’ liability levels in the pack, plus any health and safety accreditation, before you spend time on the bid. Named certifications are just as rare in notice text: 29 of the 470 live UK notices (about 6%) named one (as of 10 Oct 2026), so ask early what the pack expects and whether you can obtain it before award. Our tender eligibility checker is coming soon. Until then, tell us your trade and postcode to join the free weekly list of live tenders, starting soon.
Questions
Where are public sector tenders in Wales published?
Sell2Wales is the national portal for Wales. Under the Procurement Act 2023, new opportunities are also advertised on Find a Tender, and some Welsh bodies run the tender itself on a separate e-tendering system. The notice tells you where to respond.
Is Sell2Wales free?
Yes. Sell2Wales says it is free to use. You register, complete a public profile and set an alerts profile by category. Registration is also needed to access the documents attached to a notice.
Do I need to register on the Central Digital Platform as well as Sell2Wales?
Yes, if you want to bid. Sell2Wales says suppliers must register on the Central Digital Platform first and then enter their unique identifier in the Sell2Wales supplier control panel. gov.uk says Central Digital Platform registration is free and only needed when you want to bid.
Does TenderWorthy include Sell2Wales tenders?
No. We list notices from Find a Tender and Contracts Finder. Quotes and tenders published only on Sell2Wales or a buyer's own system will not appear in our list, so keep a Sell2Wales alert as well.
