Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) for UK suppliers

Updated

Tenders Electronic Daily (TED) is the EU service that UK high-value contract notices used to go through. gov.uk says “Find a Tender replaced the EU’s Tenders Electronic Daily for high value contracts in the UK on 1 January 2021.” TenderWorthy is independent. We have no connection with TED, the EU or the UK government.

The short version: for UK public contracts, look at Find a Tender. If you want EU opportunities, gov.uk says you may continue to do so via OJEU/TED.

What TenderWorthy covers

We take notices from Find a Tender and Contracts Finder only. We do not ingest TED or Public Contracts Scotland, so no EU notices appear in our lists. Scottish notices appear only where they are also on Find a Tender or Contracts Finder: 21 live notices with a Scottish delivery region in the week to 10 Oct 2026 (how we count).

We also don’t describe how TED itself works. gov.uk and legislation.gov.uk don’t document its features, and we won’t guess. For that, go to ted.europa.eu.

This page is about public procurement notices. It does not cover EU grant or research-funding calls.

Tenders Electronic Daily and the UK: what changed

Two dates matter.

WhenWhere UK public sector notices goSource
Before 1 January 2021The Official Journal of the EU, via TED (OJEU/TED)gov.uk, public-sector procurement
From 1 January 2021Find a Tender replaced TED for high value contracts in the UKgov.uk, Find a Tender
From 24 February 2025The central digital platform (Find a Tender) “is the place where all the regulated public procurement notices are published”; Contracts Finder keeps notices for procurements started under the old rulesgov.uk short guide; PPN 019, para 8

So a new UK tender is on Find a Tender, not TED. Older procurements are different. gov.uk says “Contracts will continue to be listed on Tenders Electronic Daily if the procurement process started before 1 January 2021.” If you are researching a contract that started before 2021, TED is worth checking as well as Find a Tender.

The 2025 date matters for Contracts Finder too. PPN 019 says no new procurements will be conducted under the old rules after 24 February 2025. So what Contracts Finder carries from the old rules relates to procurements that were already under way.

OJEU procurement: the old term

OJEU stands for the Official Journal of the European Union. For UK notices it is now a “formerly” term, and our glossary entry explains it. If an older document or a bid library says “OJEU notice”, it is using pre-2021 vocabulary.

If a document mentions OJEU, check its date first. gov.uk ties continued TED listings to procurements that started before 1 January 2021. Today’s equivalent is a notice on the central digital platform, which is Find a Tender. Our guide to Find a Tender vs Contracts Finder shows what each service holds.

EU tenders and the EU tender portal: can UK firms bid?

gov.uk’s guidance on public-sector procurement (last updated 4 June 2024) says: “If you wish to access public sector contract opportunities in the EU, you may continue to do so via OJEU/TED.”

That is about finding them. Whether you can win one is a separate question. gov.uk’s Trade and Cooperation Agreement implementation report for 2023-2024 says the agreement “provides a transparent and non-discriminatory framework for access to public procurement”, and that it is based on the WTO’s Government Procurement Agreement. It does not say that every EU notice is open to a UK firm, and we can’t tell you that either. The notice and the EU buyer’s rules decide.

Our suggestion, not a rule, before you spend time on an EU tender:

  1. Open the notice and find the buyer’s country, the deadline and where to respond.
  2. Look for any statement on whether suppliers from outside the EU may bid.
  3. Check what the tender documents ask for on insurance and certifications, as you would for a UK tender.

For a 5 to 50 person firm whose work is in the UK, the UK services are the place to start.

Where to look for UK public tenders now

  • Find a Tender for new Procurement Act notices. gov.uk’s short guide says notices are “designed to allow interested parties to look at them free of charge”, and that you can set up alerts using “saved searches”. See how to use Find a Tender.
  • Contracts Finder for notices linked to procurements started under the old rules, per PPN 019.
  • The devolved sites. gov.uk’s Contracts Finder page says Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own dedicated public sector procurement websites, and names Public Contracts Scotland, Sell2Wales, and eSourcing NI and eTendersNI. None of them is TED.

Devolved Scottish authorities are excluded authorities under section 2(5)(a) of the Procurement Act 2023, except for procurement within section 115A. A Scottish buyer’s notice may therefore not be on Find a Tender. See tenders in Scotland, and UK tender portals compared for the full list.

We can check notices that are on Find a Tender or Contracts Finder. We cannot check anything on TED.

Questions

What is Tenders Electronic Daily?

The EU's tender notice service, written OJEU/TED in some gov.uk guidance. gov.uk says Find a Tender replaced it for high value contracts in the UK on 1 January 2021, and that contracts continue to be listed on it if the procurement process started before that date.

Can UK firms still bid for EU tenders?

gov.uk's guidance (last updated 4 June 2024) says: if you wish to access public sector contract opportunities in the EU, you may continue to do so via OJEU/TED. The UK-EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement "provides a transparent and non-discriminatory framework for access to public procurement" (gov.uk implementation report, 2023-2024). Whether a particular notice is open to you depends on that notice and the EU buyer's rules, so read it before you spend time.

Where are UK public tenders published now?

On Find a Tender, the central digital platform under the Procurement Act 2023, which gov.uk's short guide calls the place where all the regulated public procurement notices are published. Contracts Finder still carries notices linked to procurements started under the old rules (PPN 019). Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland also have their own dedicated sites, per gov.uk.

What does OJEU mean?

The Official Journal of the European Union. For UK notices it is an old term: Find a Tender replaced Tenders Electronic Daily for UK high value contracts on 1 January 2021 (gov.uk).

Does TenderWorthy list EU tenders from TED?

No. We take notices from Find a Tender and Contracts Finder only. We do not ingest TED, so no EU notices appear in our lists.
